Economic Empowerment Through Vocational Skills  Development and Job Creation.

EAGER SMILE VOCATIONAL SKILLING BENEFICIARIES SACCO, is a savings and credit cooperative operating in Matugga, Wakiso Town and Kakiri in Wakiso District. It was founded by the youth and women groups in Wakiso district that have acquired skills development in tailoring, poultry farming, hair dressing, shoe making, piggery, art and craft, weaving among others from Eager smile. EAGER SMILE VOCATIONAL SKILLING BENEFICIARIES SACCO was established to mainly empower disadvantaged youth and women with vocational and livelihood skills for self-sustenance through economic transformation, promotion of economic programs, and provide safe, cheap business and entrepreneurship support to the young generation of Uganda.

Since inception, EAGER SMILE VOCATIONAL SKILLING BENEFICIARIES SACCO has trained 225 vulnerable girls (13-24 years) who had been exploited under Commercial Sexual exploitation, child labour and many of them have graduated through university.  We have also trained various girls and women and youth in areas of, {hair dressing, Art and craft, electronics and computer, catering, piggery, farming, poultry, rat keeping, weaving. Out of the total number trained, so far 15 female groups of 15 members each have been supported by the cooperative society to legally register their small groups, thus jobs created for themselves. 

EAGER SMILE VOCATIONAL SKILLING BENEFICIARIES SACCO does not work in isolation but with other collaborators for technical expertise sharing, programs’ scale up and creation of greater impact on the community. It is on this practice that EAGER SMILE VOCATIONAL SKILLING BENEFICIARIES SACCO works closely with local governments, communities, Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development that as resulted into the above achievement and thus a side of strength and opportunity. Our team is comprised of widely skilled and knowledgeable man power (social workers, adult educators, community mobilizers, project managers, vocational skills trainers, Community Development Officers among others) in areas of group formation and dynamics, business facilitators and development experts, community credit mobilization and awareness raising, community facilitation and instruction, collaboration and linkages, monitoring and Evaluation among other disciplines.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives for which the Group is established are:

  1. To train women and youth in business skills and financial management.
  2. To help youth and women to start-up businesses that generates reasonable income.
  3. To equip women and youth generating household incomes.
  4. To hold consultative meetings, seminars, workshops on the subject matter of road safety and other related matters.
  5. To establish closer cooperation and collaboration with bodies and individuals within and outside Uganda.
  6. To diversify the activities of the organization setting up branches whenever and wherever deemed appropriate.
  7. To be a forum where members would give each other financial, social, emotional, mental and spiritual support whenever necessary.
  8. To acquire property and chattels and do such other things as may be approved by members.
  9. To raise or borrow money for all or any of the foregoing objectives in such manner and upon such security as may from time to time be determined by the Group.
  10. To transform itself into a co-operative society at an appropriate time.
  11. To do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the foregoing objectives.
